THE Tesco store in Tadcaster Road, York, has been named as the company’s second best fundraising store in the UK.
Staff and customers raised more than £19,100 towards the £10 million raised nationally through the supermarket’s National Charity Partnership with Diabetes UK, putting it in second place out of all 3,146 Tescos across the UK.
Linda Wood, Diabetes UK’s northern and Yorkshire regional manager thanked the store for its ‘incredible’ achievement, which was a tribute to employees’ hard work.
The £10 million has been invested in developing a Type 1 diabetes vaccine, a public awareness campaign and supporting newly diagnosed people.
