CAPTAIN Michelle Britton and vice-captain Dawn Exton gave Five Lions a 2-0 lead at City Supporters, but the division one leaders hit back to win 7-2 in the York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League.
Britton hit a 22-dart leg as the second-placed side shocked their hosts, but Sue Turpin, Tracey Farmeary, Tina Platt and Bev Harton replied for City, who added all the pairs to their tally.
Magnet’s Sandra Bruce gamed in 22 darts, but Acomb went into the pairs 4-2 ahead thanks to wins for Rose Gray, Laura Gatenby, Kate Rankeillor and Sarah Rankeillor.
Wendy Shortle and Sue Tate narrowed the gap and Maggie Tottie and Denise Fowler set up a deciding leg. Despite two tons from Bruce, Gray and Gatenby sealed the points for Acomb.
Emma Frankland top-scored for Edinburgh Arms in their 6-3 win over Marcia ‘A’, while there were also wins for Donna Lynes, Anthea Jamieson, Amanda Bevan and Julie Stable.
A 24-dart opening leg from Carole Layne set Tramways on their way to a 6-3 win at Burnholme. Jane Dobson was Burnholme’s only singles winner, while the hosts added the last two pairs legs to their tally.
Marcia ‘B’s Faye Hawksby gamed in 25 darts but Slipper pair Trish Law and Vicky Middleton sealed a 5-4 victory.
Bootham Cons Club’s final pair of Kate Barnes and Jackie Clemit secured match points after Severus ‘A’s Mavis Gallimore and Sue Richardson had set up a decider.
Nikki Johnson hit a maximum 180 as she inspired Castle Howard Ox to a 6-3 win at home to Marcia Grey in division two.
Catherine Johns and Maggie Bedingham had given Grey a 2-0 lead, but Ox hit back with wins for Nella Majsterek, Abbie Scott and Linda Staveley, before Johnson and Staveley sealed the success.
Burton WMC beat Turpin 6-3, after making a flying start thanks to victories for Sandra Pallister and Angie Blackmore.
Jo McPherson and Pam Bielby levelled before Burton were gifted two points due to Turpin’s lack of players. Linda Embleton and Susan Barker sealed match points.
Woolpack and Leeman went into the pairs all square, where Margaret Schofield and Debbie Witts sealed a 5-4 win for Leeman.
Julie Oliver and Brenda Dawe were Jubilee’s only victors against Green Tree, who had Janine Cartwright sparking a six-leg winning run.
Freda Harman and Cris Turgoose snatched a 5-4 victory for Sun Inn at Shoulder.
