RACING chief Dan Woodrow is scouring Yorkshire to find the region’s next karting star, writes Matthew Naylor.
DW Racing and 23 Racing founder Woodrow is forming an X Factor-style academy with a view to entering a driver in next season’s Super One British Karting Championship. Woodrow is looking to start the competition with around 200 to 250 people, which he will whittle down to the winning pair.
He said: “The idea is to reward the racing talent of a couple of lads or lasses from Yorkshire.”
The owner currently has several cars racing across many forms of motorsport, from karting in Super One to Formula Ford racing.
Woodrow plans to spend the next year finding his would-be racers and preparing them for competition.
Wetherby-based Woodrow is looking for young drivers who have the talent rather than just the money to learn.
“If there is someone out there that thinks they could impress me, I need to hear from them,” said Woodrow.
Anyone interested should phone Woodrow on 07583 833254.
