“DRUNK tank gets closer” – The Press, February 20. Why do we have to cater for people with self-inflicted ‘illnesses’ when people with genuine illnesses have to wait weeks for treatment?
The article says it would relieve pressure on A&E, hospital beds and ambulances, but then goes on to say it may involve police, paramedics, emergency care practitioners and other volunteers. Surely this would take people away from their normal work to the detriment of genuine cases?
Regarding the funding, how can the council find money for this scheme when they are increasing council tax, cutting back on services and making staff redundant in order to make savings?
Perhaps the people who will be treated should be charged for the service provided then they may think twice about having one over the eight.
