A NEW dedicated centre for yoga and meditation has opened in York.
Sophie Carr, a local yoga teacher, and two other yoga fans, Linda Grenyer and Gill Johnson, bought a building in Nunmill Street, off Bishopthorpe Road, last year and have transformed it to make The Stables Yoga Centre.
Linda said: “We wanted to create a welcoming and warm space, somewhere very different to a dusty church hall. The underfloor heating is fantastic. And it’s so peaceful here too.”
Sophie said: “Bishy Road feels like a great place to locate ourselves. There’s such a sense of community which The Stables can only add to.”
The centre has two large studios, one for yoga and one for pilates. The pilates room will offer mat-based and equipment-based classes.
Other classes include beginners’ courses, flat belly yoga, hot yoga, ashtanga yoga and pregnancy and post-natal yoga.
