I WISH to express my thanks to Richard Adams, his fellow vice presidents and the fans of York City for a fabulous day on March 1 when I attended Bootham Crescent for the match against Exeter City.
I am attempting to attend a match at each of the 92 senior football grounds in England (not easy, living in Scotland) and, in doing so, raise money for the Make A Wish Foundation, which arranges days out and holidays for children with life-threatening illnesses. Bootham Crescent was number 43 of the 92.
As well as receiving outstanding hospitality, my friend and I were treated to seats in the directors’ box for the match, and a range of signed memorabilia. I even made the prize draw on the pitch at half-time.
The match programme also contained a full-page feature on my fundraising quest to do the 92, together with details of how to donate at justgiving.com/paultha Following the magnificent welcome and experience, I am now a committed fan, and shall be looking out for the Minstermen’s results every week.
With best wishes, and wonderful memories of a great day spent with new friends.
Dr Paul Hare, Larkhall, South Lanarkshire.
