Despite losing 72-65 to Selby, New Earswick IBC gave themselves a good chance of winning the Yorkshire Ladies ‘B’ League.
They took four points to go into their last game against leaders Doncaster only two points adrift.
At home, Marjorie Watson’s side went from 9-9 to lead 16-10 with two ends to play and just held on to triumph 16-15.
Annette Prosser’s side scored a six on the sixth end to lead 7-6, but they endured a tough tussle that ended in a 27-12 loss.
In Selby, Kath Sykes’ team put on a great performance. Ahead 17-2 after 14 ends, they won 22-11. Pat Walker’s side came from 17-5 down after 14 ends to only lose by four 19-15.
New Earswick’s final game is a week on Saturday.
