YORK council is to be asked to throw its weight behind plans for improvements on the A64 between the city and the coast.
The council’s Cabinet Member for Transport, Planning and Sustainability is to be presented with a draft Memorandum of Understanding to support the scheme to improve east-west links at a meeting next week.
If approved the document will show the council’s support for a York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Local Enterprise Partnership strategy to be submitted to the government this month.
The plan follows a £50 million growth fund bid put forward in November on behalf of City of York Council, North Yorkshire County Council, Ryedale District Council and Scarborough Borough Council, who are promoting this project with the Highways Agency to the York North Yorkshire and East Riding Local Enterprise Partnership for inclusion in its Strategic Economic Plan (SEP).
A decision on the growth fund allocation is expected by Government in the summer.
