A NORTH Yorkshire pet charity is looking for heroic pets for a regional award.
Blue Cross in Thirsk, founded in 1897, cares for more than 8,000 homeless animals every year, and is accepting nominations for animals that have done something amazing.
The Blue Cross Medal was originally founded to help working horses in London providing frontline veterinary care to horses during the First World War and in 1918 awarded a number of medals to honour horses which had served in the war.
Nominations can be made at bluecross.org.uk/medal until September 1.
