IN reply to the Lendal Bridge, The Secret Files report (The Press February 27), I believe that there should be no secret Lendal Bridge files held by the Labour council in York.

There should be only honesty, more transparency and a more open, democratic council that the people of York can be truly proud of.

The sooner Lendal Bridge is reopened the better for the majority of people in York who want it reopened, including myself. Its closure is damaging York’s reputation as a tourist city by fining visitors and is upsetting York residents who have been fined – and continue to be fined – if crossing Lendal Bridge by car.

I also believe that traffic congestion is worse now in other parts of the city than ever before, due to the Lendal Bridge closure in York by the Labour-run council.
