I WOULD like to thank both ladies in the Visit York Information Centre for assisting me with an elderly, partially sighted lady in an electric wheelchair.
I had found the elderly lady, who was a complete stranger to me, apparently attempting to push one of two doorbells at Petergate House in High Petergate.
I asked her if she needed help to push the doorbell. She quietly explained she really wanted a taxi as she had been due to get one at 1.30pm outside Marks & Spencer a couple of hours or so earlier and was very cold.
The nearest place I could see where she could promptly gain access with her wheelchair, and keep warm and safe, was the Visitor Information Centre.
While I’m certain that the information centre assists many people, this lady was in particular need.
So please pass on my sincere thanks to both employees for the very kind way in which help was given.
The provided excellent customer service.
