HOSTS St Olave’s School lost in the cup final of their popular under-12s rugby union sevens tournament.
The York youngsters advanced all the way to the last match but fell 4-1 to RGS Newcastle.
They had earlier come through a group that also included Hymers, Bradford Grammar, Durham and Easingwold.
A total of ten teams competed in two groups and, following the initial stage, the competition was split into a cup, plate and bowl competition.
While St Olave’s came very close in the cup, Durham won the plate competition and Easingwold won the bowl.
Organiser Gareth Sharp, from St Olave’s School, said: “Everyone had a great time and we were hugely impressed with the standard of rugby.
“There were some real stars of the future out there. We enjoy putting on this tournament and we look forward to next year’s, as well as watching the U11s next week.”
