NEW Earswick All Blacks Under-12s started their Yorkshire Junior League season off with a 26-14 win over Guiseley.
All Blacks began slowly but gradually eased into the game and opened the scoring as Ritesh Gurung received a wide outside ball and sprinted home from half-way.
Frank Strange danced and weaved his way over in the same corner before Gurung again flew in from half-way to score his second.
All Blacks led 14-10 at the break and added to the lead in the second half as powerhouse prop Joshua Walton hit the ball at pace to knock over three opponents, shrugged off another and surged over the line.
Kai Elston Smith sealed victory when seeing an opening and driving through.
Sam Briggs added three conversions.
Sherburn U9s kicked off their new season with a cracking display in defeat to Milford Marlins.
The match swung from end to end, Milford scoring five tries and Sherburn three, through Euan Mills-Hughes, Neave Romans and James Kilgar.
There was some superb defending by James Kilgar, Joseph Shakespear, top tackler Mills-Hughes and the hard-working George Beal, and some excellent running from George Hoskins, Jake Wilkinson and Jack Todd, while one run by Shakespear brought him the magic moment award.
Harry Calvert and Romans were the men of the match.
Sherburn U9s and U12s are still on the lookout for more players, while the club are also keen to start a new U7s team.
Training is on Wednesday nights at Eversley Park, from 6pm to 7pm.
