THE Stroke Association is inviting stroke survivors from Selby and their carers to attend a communication event on Tuesday (March 11).
Held at Community House on Portholme Road from 11.30am to 2pm, the free event will support all stroke survivors who experience problems with speaking, reading, writing or understanding.
The charity will host workshops to help with conversation techniques and staff will be on hand to answer questions about life after stroke.
In addition, the Stroke Association team will also be testing visitors’ blood pressure and providing information on stroke prevention.
Tricia Richardson, Information, advice and support coordinator at the Stroke Association, said: “About one third of stroke survivors have difficulty with speaking, reading and writing, and it can be frightening and frustrating.
“The workshops have been created to help support stroke survivors with aphasia as well as their families and carers.”
