AN Army veteran and reality TV star from York is tackling a 100km walk this summer raise money for blind ex-service men and women.
Mark Sullivan, aged 56, who starred in ITV’s Lad’s Army as a military instructor, will be walking 100k in under 24 hours to raise money for Blind Veterans UK.
Mark, now an Army Reservist, served as a regular all over the world between 1976 and 1998 and is also a member of the Queen’s Bodyguard of the Yeomen of the Guard.
He said: “I have been doing marathons and endurance challenges for charity for a good long while now, but I wanted to try something different for a charity which will be there for veterans no matter what happens.”
He was a military instructor on the first series of Lad’s Army, which saw 30 young British men undertake National Service-style training, and is now a senior lecturer in sports fitness at York St John University.
He said he was looking forward to the physical and mental challenge the 100km presents.
Individual or relay team places are available for the 100km walk from London to Brighton on Saturday, June 21 from walk100.org.uk/sign-up.
