ANOTHER celebrity has given their support to a York 5km run in aid of prostate cancer research.
Comedian Billy Pearce is unable to take part in R U Taking the P? in Rowntree Park on Father’s Day on Sunday, June 15 because of other commitments, but he has sent a message of support and good wishes to the organisers.
He said: “Sadly I can’t be with you on the day because I am in Liverpool, but I am very happy to support you in any way I can.”
Last month Sir Sir Michael Parkinson, 78, gave his support. The Yorkshire-born broadcaster was diagnosed with prostate cancer last summer and has since been successfully treated with a course of radiotherapy.
As well as raising awareness of prostate cancer and the signs and symptoms to look out for, the event has raised £45,000 for research into the disease at the University of York’s Cancer Research Unit.
