VISITORS have been invited to welcome new arrivals to Askham Bryan College at the annual spring lambing event.
Tomorrow’s event is a regular fixture in the local farming calendar, and sees hundreds of people turn out to see new-born lambs.
John Wray, section leader for agriculture at the college, said the event was a chance for children and adults in the city to see country life in person.
He said: “Lambing Sunday offers a fantastic family day out. It’s a great chance for kids to see a real farm at work.
“The college’s flock of ewes will hopefully be lambing on the day and there will be plenty of opportunities to see new-born lambs up close.”
As well as the new arrivals, a variety of activities will be held throughout the day for families, including face painting, a party bus and balloon modelling, a tractor ride, and a display by working dogs.
The college will also take visitors to see cows being milked, and sales will be held by Deliciously Yorkshire, local butchers, and plant sales.
Admission to the event, which runs between 10am and 4pm, costs £5 for adults, and is free for under-16s. Free parking is available, but the event is not suitable for expectant mothers.
