The Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, visited Lambert Engineering in Tadcaster on his way to York for his party’s spring conference, and he was given the chance to take a turn at the controls of a racing car decked out in the company’s colours.
The firm, based at Station Estate, was established in 1973 by Chris Lambert and Peter Wainman to make machine parts for the local paper and printing industry.
It had four staff at the time, but now employs almost 200 people and operates worldwide.
