TWO African priests and the York Gospel Choir will be at the centre of celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the building of a Selby area church.
The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, formerly of Uganda, will attend a special service of thanksgiving on Palm Sunday at St Mary’s Carlton where the Rev Jonas Mdumulla, formerly of Tanzania, is the parish priest.
The York Gospel Choir will hold a concert, and local schools and churches of other denominations will also help mark the anniversary.
Mr Mdumulla said: “The celebrations connect us with those in the past who, through their generous giving and service, gave of themselves for our benefit and to the greater glory of God.”
