HAVING read the article regarding Anna Semlyen and the 20s Plenty campaign, I feel I must write with my viewpoint (The Press, February 20).
I am not in favour of 20mph speed limits blanketed across my city.
I have no problem with 20mph zones outside schools, but if I, and all other car owners are being expected to drive everywhere at 20mph, well, my car will not comfortably cruise at 20mph in third gear, so I will have to travel in second, at higher revs, using more fuel, creating more pollution and more noise.
If a consultation takes place, I will attend and register my opposition. If not, and anti-car Labour get their way, I will simply travel at 30mph, or at a speed I deem to be safe for the time of day/conditions.
A note to every person involved in the 20s Plenty campaign: we are not Oxford, and all the better for it.
