A MAN was arrested in York on suspicion of assault at about 1.30am today, after CCTV operators reported a fight to police.
Officers from North Yorkshire Police were called to reports of a fight in North Street, and found a 21-year-old man on Ouse Bridge who was identified by CCTV operators as being involved in the incident.
He was arrested on suspicion of assault after initially resisting arrest, and remained in police custody throughout Monday.
In a tweet sent in the early hours of Monday, the Force Control Room said: “Officers in #York dealing with an incredibly violent male on #OuseBridge. Thankful for #CCTV on this one.”
A police spokesman said a 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were both taken to York Hospital for check-ups, but were not seriously hurt.
