A MAN was taken to hospital after jumping into the River Ouse in York.
The 33-year-old is understood to have jumped from Ouse Bridge just after 9.45pm on Monday.
A woman walking back to the Queen's Hotel in nearby Skeldergate called police, and a fire engine and ambulance also raced to the scene.
The man was found out of the water at 9.53pm, but North Yorkshire Police said it was not yet clear whether he had got out himself or whether somebody else had rescued him.
He was taken to York Hospital, having taken in a lot of water, said police.
Earlier this month, the body of York student Megan Roberts, 20, was found in the Ouse at Acaster Malbis, six weeks after she went missing, and authorities have repeated warnings recently of the dangers of the river.
