FIREFIGHTERS are holding a series of sessions across North Yorkshire as they do their bit to ensure the Tour de France is a success in July.
They are giving advice to anyone thinking of providing accommodation, food or car parking for the hundreds of thousands of people expected to flock to the county to view the first two stages of this year’s edition of the most famous bike race.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said: “We can answer questions, provide general advice and also make you aware of any fire safety legislation that might apply.”
The sessions are aimed at anyone planning on setting up a temporary bed and breakfast facility, campsite, car park, catering facility or small event on July 5 and July 6. All sessions run from 10 am to noon unless otherwise stated.
They include: Easingwold Library, Easingwold, April 4; Thirsk Fire Station, Castle Garth, Thirsk, April 25; Boroughbridge Library, St James’ Meadow, Boroughbridge, March 27 and May 9; Knaresborough Library, Market Place, Knaresborough, April 15 and June 5; Harrogate Fire Station, Skipton Road, Harrogate, March 13 from 10am to 12.30pm, April 24 and May 29, both 1pm to 3pm.
The service is also providing advice on its website.
