FOUR months from now the world’s eyes will be focused on York as the Tour de France Grand Départ sets off from Knavesmire.
It is a golden opportunity to show the city in the best possible light, so the last thing we need is the abundance of potholes plaguing our streets.
It’s not as if we’ve just come through a harsh winter. Gritting lorries have been a rare sight, and it’s hard to understand why the roads are in such a mess.
We appreciate finances are tight, but North Yorkshire County Council has brought forward its programme of repairs and York must do the same.
Potholes are unsightly and dangerous. The last thing we need is a peleton pile up.
