Update: The accident has now been cleared. All lanes are open and traffic is easing.
EMERGENCY services have been called to a crash involving two cars and a van on the A64 this morning.
The accident happened at Bilbrough Top near Tadcaster, leaving the westbound carriageway blocked, although the stretch of road is now being reopened.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service's control room said the crash, which happened just after 8.10am, involved three vehicles - a Ford Transit van, a Volkswagen Passat and a Renault Megane - and one person was cut out of their car. Paramedics and police were also called to the scene.
North Yorkshire Police said nobody has been seriously injured. The road closure has led to long queues of traffic stretching back towards York.
