A UNIVERSITY of York academic has been appointed to the board of the national body responsible for collecting and sharing health and social care data in England.
Professor Maria Goddard is one of three new non-executive directors appointed to join the Board of the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC).
Director of York’s Centre for Health Economics and Professor of health economics, Professor Goddard has a long track record in research and has also gained policy experience in posts in the NHS at health authority level and then as a civil servant and Economic Adviser in the NHS Executive (Department of Health).
Professor Goddard said: “I am delighted to join the HSCIC Board. I look forward to playing a part in the future agenda of the HSCIC as it strives to improve patient services, care and outcomes through its role as trusted national provider of high-quality information, data and IT systems for health and social care.”
