AFTER spending millions of pounds on extending York Art Gallery, will it end up having lots more visitors? One day, of the 67 visitors, only seven looked at the collection. The rest had gone to use the restroom.

There have been many complaints about the public toilets in Exhibition Square, so perhaps tourists will now go past Etty’s splashed legs and use the loos in the gallery.

Let us hope the money spent will not just go down the drain as it has on supposed improvements such as the skateboard circuit at the Minster and the spend on the “pub patio” in King’s Square.

Hopefully the council may water down its intention to block off more city-centre roads.

They really are making a mess of our town, but, they tell us what a good job they have done.
