YORK bowls ace Zoë Eagles' international career has continued to soar.
Fresh from helping England Under-25s women retain the Acle Trophy against Scotland and Wales in Nottingham, Eagles played a full part in the England senior side's success in their annual Home Nations tournament, the Clara Johns Trophy.
It took place in Stanley, Tyne and Wear, at the weekend and it saw England win all of their round-robin games, beating Scotland 115-103, Wales 144-95 and Ireland 163-82.
There were six rinks of four players in each match. Eagles was lead bowler in her rink, which beat Scotland 21-13, Wales 36-10 and Ireland 22-15 in their respective contests.
The 23-year-old, from Dringhouses, was the only representative from all of Yorkshire to play in either the England senior or U25s ladies' teams.
Meanwhile, York’s Dave Attwood, Mark Clarke, Paul Humphreys and Alan Vowles edged a tense battle to move into the last 16 of the National Gents Fours Area competition.
They went into the last end of their play-off two against Darlington leading 17-15 but Andy Kirtland’s Darlo team picked up a two equalise.
The game, played at Harrogate IBC, went into an extra end - with the York side taking a single to snatch victory.
They now take on Exonia at Melton Mowbray on April 7.
