YORK Indoor Bowls Club were relegated from division one of the Yorkshire League for the first time in the club’s record books.
They lost 77-68 to Hornsea and that reverse also leaves New Earswick’s survival in the balance until Saturday.
That’s when Hornsea complete their league season with a game against North Cave, where they must pick up two points to send New Earswick down with York.
At Thanet Road, Mark Clarke’s team were last to finish after the other three rinks had been wrapped up with Paul Mooring’s away side winning comfortably 23-14 and Graham Brooke’s losing 27-11.
At home, Phil Emmerson’s side disappointingly went down 20-14 after being level at 12-12 with seven ends to play.
It left Clarke’s team needing to make up seven shots over the last four ends to take the aggregate score. They picked up a twoo, but lost the last three ends to finish 20-16.
