IMPROVED services have been commissioned for neurology patients in North Yorkshire.
Following a review of services, NHS Vale of York Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is involving local people with multiple sclerosis (MS), Parkinson’s, motor neurone disease (MND) and epilepsy to design new care methods.
An event will be held in York on Wednesday, April 9, for patients, carers and professionals to have their say.
Dr Mark Hayes, Chief Clinical Officer for the CCG said: “This will not only offer better outcomes to patients but will help to reduce preventable hospital admissions too.”
Sue Thomas, chief executive of the organisation which led the review, said: “Patients in York often say services are too focused on the hospital and want care that is closer to home – this is a fantastic opportunity for patients to have their say on the services they use.”
Marilyn Ekers, acting chair of North Yorkshire and York Neurological Alliance, said: “The development of integrated pathways is good news for patients.”
The April 9 event takes place at West Offices, York.
