LIVING in Strensall, it has been interesting to watch the progress of Bonneycroft, a small, select Daniel Gath Homes development... and even more interesting to see the sold signs go up on the website.
So keen have buyers been that at least one has already moved in and is happily at home while the finishing touches to the other properties go on all around. (The occupied house looks particularly cosy in the evening when the workers have gone home and the lights go on).
In fact, the development has proven so popular that only two of the seven homes on site remain for sale. And it is a similar story at another Daniel Gath development, The Orchard, in the Stockton Lane area, where of the five homes for sale only two are still up for grabs.
If these success stories are an indicator of how the property market – and hopefully the York economy generally – is on the up, then all well and good.
But it might also have something to do with the fact that the builders have hit all the right notes by producing small-scale, high-quality developments in the right locations – something of a Daniel Gath speciality.
That is, however, by the by...
If you are interested in either of these developments you may have to be quick off the mark to snap up the remaining properties.
Starting in Strensall, Bonneycroft can offer two house styles. The first is a ‘Dalby’ style which offers a baywindowed lounge to the front and a long, large dining/kitchen which runs the full length of the back of the house and has bi-folding doors to the garden.
Upstairs there are three bedrooms (master with en suite shower room) and a study and family bathroom.
The price is £419,950.
The other is an ‘Ainsty’ style, providing smart and spacious layouts over two floors with the ground floor offering a large lounge to the front, an extensive dining kitchen and a separate family room to the back (both with French doors to the garden).
There is also a cloakroom and utility room and an integral garage.
Upstairs there are four bedrooms, two of them having en-suite facilities and a house bathroom. Beautifully designed and developed, this is a lot of house at £429,950.
Now, skipping across to Stockton Lane, we find the ‘Bedale’ style, a four-bedroomed house with garage and garden.
On the ground floor there is a hallway with cloakroom off, a spacious lounge and large dining kitchen.
Upstairs the master bedroom has an en-suite shower room and there are three further bedrooms and a house bathroom. The package is offered at £389,950.
The second home here is a variation of the four-bedroomed ‘Dalby’ style to be found at Strensall, as described above, but with a slightly higher price tag of £449,950.
