TWO York students have been praised for their archaeological work by the city's Lord Mayor as they prepare to receive awards.
Charlotte Rolf and Tom Fox, both studying at York College, were nominated for the awards by their tutor Charlie Dean for their "hard work and enthusiasm" in archaeology, and will collect their accolades at the Women in Archaeology conference this Saturday.
Ahead of the conference, they met the Lord Mayor of York, Coun Julie Gunnell, who is also president of York Archaeological Trust - the organisation running the project Charlotte and Tom have been involved in - at a Mansion House event where she had the chance to congratulate them personally.
Coun Gunnell said: "This is a great project and it is great to see young people interested in archaeology in York, as this area of expertise and knowledge is so important due to the city's heritage."
