AN extra £100,000 is to be spent sprucing up Thirsk market place.
Work starts next Monday and continues over the next ten weeks, including on parts of the cobbles and areas paved in York stone to the northern side of the market.
The southern side last year saw more than 300,000 cobbles laid by hand. Councillor Nigel Knapton, Hambleton District Council’s portfolio holder for customer services and asset management, said: “We hope to cause as little disruption as possible.”
