CITY of York Athletic Club sprinter Tom Somers is eyeing outdoor success after starring on his indoor international debut.
The 16-year-old broke two event records representing England at the Under-20 International meet in Cardiff.
Yearsley-based Somers, a Queen Ethelburga’s School pupil, won the 200 metres in 21.89 seconds beating the previous meeting record of 21.97 seconds.
In the 4x200m relay, Somers helped England storm to victory in an event record time of one minute 27.09 seconds.
City of York coach Geoff Barraclough said: “He is in good shape for the outdoor season.
“This was probably his last indoor event and we will now concentrate on the summer and the World Junior Championships in July.”
