I NOTE with dismay that yet another life has been lost in the murky waters of one of our rivers.
As a city with two rivers I feel it is of paramount importance that we should educate the people of York about water safety.
This is precisely the reason the Royal Life Saving Society was formed and therefore I should like to inform readers that there is a local club which trains anyone interested in water safety and saving lives in, on and near water.
Ebor Life Saving Club is run by RLSS qualified volunteers who care about safety and we meet at Energise from 8.30pm to 9.30pm every Friday during term time and the only criterion is that you be over 8 and able to swim a few lengths.
Marie Taylor, Chairman and trainer assessor, Royal Life Saving Society, St Wulstan Close, Fossway, York.
