A VIGILANT off-duty policeman thwarted suspected bike thieves.
Ryan Dillon spotted two men acting suspiciously with a ladies bike in George Street, Beverley, and called on-duty colleagues.
After a quick search, police found a shed nearby had been broken in to and the bike had been stolen from it.
The two men were arrested at the scene, and a third man was thought to have already got the train out of Beverley.
Police officers had warned their colleagues in Cottingham to look out for the suspect and he was arrested a short time later, with another bike allegedly stolen from Beverley.
Chief Inspector James Glansfield said: “This is an excellent example of policing and shows how it is a 24/7 role.”
