I ATTENDED an “engagement event” at Bell Farm Social Hall on Wednesday evening, where charming officials from the Council Leisure Services gamely attempted to answer queries from about 80 concerned, mainly elderly people who live near the area of the proposed hub at Monk Stray.
Sadly many answers were that they hadn’t planned that part yet, so please e-mail the questions to tdf.york@york.com.uk
The camping hub at Monk Stray is advertised in 80 languages. If Leisure Service staff, however well meaning, struggle to organise an event successfully for 80, how will they fare if 80,000 turn up to this free event, speaking 80 different languages?
They hope for a hub, but it may be a hubbub.
