BROWNIES staged a sponsored sleepover in a York hotel to raise funds for a children’s hospice.
The event saw 150 girls from York’s Castle Division of the Brownie movement snooze on the floor of the Hilton’s function suite after an evening at the Castle Museum. Money they collected will go towards Martin House Children’s Hospice and BBC Radio York’s Good Night’s Sleep Appeal.
This year marks the 100th birthday of Brownies and has led to Girlguiding UK challenging groups to take part in the Big Brownie Birthday Stay Away and sleep in an untried location. The York event – complete with campfire songs – was organised with the Hilton Hotels Community Foundation.
