CHARITY workers are hoping that their gift of the gab will entertain societies, clubs and voluntary organisations across the York area and help people suffering with cancer.
Macmillan Cancer Support staff are urging club secretaries and others responsible for booking speakers for their organisation’s meetings to contact them.
The charity, which provides Macmillan Nurses, wants to give as many talks as possible in York, North and East Yorkshire this year about its work and what it means for people with cancer.
Sally Millington, York-based fundraising manager for the region, said: “We want to reach everyone who is affected by cancer.
“One of the ways that we can do this is by giving talks in communities and letting people know the different ways that we can help, not just the person living with cancer, but carers, family, friends, and colleagues.
She added: “By finding out more about the charity, you can spread the word and let others know how to access Macmillan’s services, and the different ways that we may be able to offer support.
“Whatever group you belong to, we would love to hear from you and arrange a visit.”
