BUOYANT Acomb Hockey Club men’s I inflicted the first Yorkshire League division four north defeat of the season on hosts Bradford University I.
Second-placed Acomb, yet to lose in 2014, started strongly and went ahead after seven minutes through Sam Lynn’s opportunism.
Within ten minutes Bradford, the only team then left with an unbeaten record in all ten Yorkshire League divisions, levelled.
But their unbowed run was about to come crashing down as Lynn surged through the middle before unleashing a reverse stick strike that was too hot to handle for the home keeper.
Matt Dickenson then found himself one on one with the keeper but unselfishly teed up Lynn for his hat-trick.
Once Acomb added a fourth four minutes into the second half through Mark Gibbons, the game was effectively over.
If Acomb win their last game of the season at home to Boston Spa at Energise, they will secure a play-off promotion tie.
