I HAVE every sympathy for Mr S Atkinson who is troubled by the extremely loud music pounding out from some car’s boom box (Letters, March 15).
There seems to be little regard for peace and quiet these days.
I therefore wonder what would be the reaction of Paul Hepworth and Jim McGurn, York’s cycling mouthpieces, should such a car decide to park outside their homes or, indeed, should passers-by walk past on opposite sides of the road, shouting at each other?
With the welcome onset of the nicer weather, cyclists have begun to come out in force and cycle in packs of around ten through the village where I live and nearly all are calling loudly to each other as they do so.
It would be most welcome if the cycling lobby would be a little quieter in rural and suburban areas as we don’t all wish to know that they are going to take the second exit at the next roundabout. I’m not against cycling. I’m just calling for a little consideration.
