ON May 3, St Leonard’s Hospice holds its 24th Challenge Walk in the Bronte Country around Haworth and Hebden Bridge – and we hope lots of walkers will join us to help raise funds for our work.
Mainly following bridleways and sections of the Pennine Way, the 20-mile walk through woods and over open moorland, attracts many regulars. The walk is fully supported throughout – and everyone receives a meal at the finish.
Since the challenge walk began our walkers have raised more than £200,000 for the hospice’s work of caring for local people and their families.
This is raised both through the entry fees – this year £10 per person, including the meal – and by many of the walkers having themselves sponsored. We supply sponsor forms, and we encourage and help participants to set up their own webpage with JustGiving.com or virginmoneygiving.com.
The challenge walk is a great day out. Numbers are limited to 200 walkers, so anyone who would like to take part should apply quickly.
Details and an entry form are available on the St Leonard’s Hospice website – stleonardshospice.org.uk – or by phoning 01904 777777.
