I RECENTLY went to York Explore Library book sale, one of many sales the libraries of York frequently have.
I was amazed at the amount of pristine books (most less than a few years old) for sale at give-away prices.
Most of the books seemed to me to have many years reading life left. What a waste, don’t you think?
Can city of York council explain why this is happening when council tax is still going up (never a freeze) and the York and surrounding areas libraries are facing cuts, many only surviving due to voluntary staffing.
I ask, can York afford to waste money like this?
It’s a disgrace.
