LABOUR councillors are calling for action to tackle a “proliferation” of betting shops and payday lenders in York.
Barbara Boyce and Steve Burton will argue at City of York Council for the Sustainable Communities Act to be used to push the government into supporting greater planning and licensing controls for councils.
Coun Boyce said the move should be supported by all parties as city leaders sought to work together to end poverty in the city.
