York's Park and Pedal cycling scheme is praised at awards event
A PIONEERING York cycling scheme has been praised at an awards ceremony.
City of York Council’s Park and Pedal project, the UK’s first , was launched 11 months ago with York Designer Outlet, TSYS and First Bus, encouraging commuters to leave their cars at Park-and-Ride sites and cycle into York.
It was commended in the cycle-parking category at the 2014 British Parking Awards.
So far, 76 bike lockers have been installed at Park-and-Ride sites and more will be added at new facilities at Poppleton and Askham Bar this year.
