A 12-year-old boy escaped serious injury when he was hit by a bus in Tadcaster Road this morning.
The coach collided with the boy near Pulleyn Drive at 8.10am.
Emergency services were called to the scene with police taking details from the driver.
The boy only had cuts and scrapes and did not need to go to hospital, police said.
Traffic backed up in the area during morning rush hour with reports of congestion in between Dalton Terrace and St George's Place and on A1036 Tadcaster Road in Dringhouses to Moor Lane.
Motorists were reported to be queuing for at least twenty minutes past the racecourse and back to the Tesco roundabout as the road was partially blocked.
