RUBBISH from York’s streets will be tipped onto a tarpaulin in Parliament Street on Monday to show how much it costs to clean up.
City of York Council said sweeping York’s footstreets and disposing of the waste costs £137,956 a year.
Contents of the mechanical sweeper will go on display with information on the Smarter York initiative and a solar-powered compactor bin, more of which will be installed over the next year. The rubbish will have been collected between 5am and 6am that day.
