POLICE returning to the River Foss as part of an investigation into the disappearance of 22-year-old Ben Clarkson have finished their search for the day.
Ben, who lives in the Heworth Green area, was last seen nearly three weeks ago.
He was seen outside Fibbers in Stonebow after a night out at about 3.30am on Sunday, March 2, and then ten minutes later in Layerthorpe near the junction with James Street, but never arrived home, or turned up for his Sunday shift at a York music shop.
Officers from the Yorkshire and Humber Underwater Search Team searched the river between Heworth Green and the basin at St George’s Field with a boat.
Lengthy underwater searches have previously been carried out in the Foss as part of the investigation.
At the time he was dressed in a grey T-shirt with an Eiffel Tower logo, dark skinny jeans and dark pumps with white trim and white toe caps.
Ben's girlfriend Rachel Peatfield, also 22, has previously spoken of how she does not believe Ben has fallen in the river on his way home. She has appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
Anyone who has information which could assist the search for Ben should call North Yorkshire Police straight away on 101, select option 1 and pass the information to the Force Control Room. Please quote reference number 12140033950.
