PAUL HEPWORTH seems to think motorists are out to deliberately harm pedestrians. This is not the case as motorists are required to have insurance by law (Letters, March 20).

The main worry for pedestrians comes not from cars but from a large amount of cyclists who think the rules of the road do not apply to them.

Maybe he should read Mr Moore’s letter in the same edition, which explains this. It is about time the anti-car brigade stopped making motorists scapegoats when they don’t know the back end of a car from the front.

Perhaps their anti-car stance is jealousy because they don’t own a car so why should anyone else.
