A YORK MP has welcomed a tax “burden” on the city’s bingo clubs being reduced, following a campaign he supported.
The Government has halved duty on clubs to ten per cent, allowing more money for new premises and jobs.
York Central MP Hugh Bayley backed the Bingo Association’s Boost Bingo campaign and said: “Hundreds of constituents have contacted me to complain about the unfair way bingo is taxed and I have continued to press the Government for changes. I’m glad the Government has now recognised the taxation was unfair.”
